The newly appointed NDDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Christian Oboh has approved the immediate release of funds to settle school fees of beneficiaries of NDDC scholarship for those studying in the various universities abroad.
Dr Oboh announced this, during the handover ceremony to mark his assumption of office. “We heard that our children studying overseas have not paid their fees, we must pay their fees by next week” Dr Oboh said.
He stated that the new board is here for a serious business and to execute projects, adding that all contractors who are due for payment will be paid after due diligence.
Dr Christian Oboh said all contractors should go back to site, warning that the Commission is ready to encourage performing contractors; while non performing ones will be blacklisted.
“We need sustainability; we want to get full value for every kobo we spend on projects” the NDDC boss insists.
He assured that the new board will work with management and staff as a team to ensure that the mandate of the Commission was delivered. “things are not as bad as being painted in NDDC, there are so many good things about NDDC, but these things are not being highlighted” Dr Oboh said.
Dr Oboh said he and his colleagues on the board were determined to match the vision of the Commission with action and to tell the world that the NDDC has a workforce that is willing to work.
On the Commission’s permanent site, the Managing Director assured that construction work on the new headquarter will be accorded high priority, while the issue of staff decentralization from the head office and strengthening of the state offices of the Commission will be treated with dispatch.
In her speech, the former Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Osato Arenyeka thanked her colleagues in management for their support and co-operation, urging them to extend the same to the new Managing Director and the board.
The new NDDC board was inaugurated by President Goodluck Jonathan on the 29th of November 2011 following the dissolution of the former board headed by Air Vice Marshall Larry Koinyan as Chairman and Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
