As development agencies approach a more conducive season for construction works, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has warned that it will not tolerate contractors without sense of urgency.
The Managing Director, Dr. Christian Oboh who disclosed this when he inspected the emergency remedial work on the Eleme section of the East-West road said the Commission is desirous of early completion of on-going projects.
“Our contractors must prioritize the prompt and early completion of projects, where there are challenges, we should know immediately”. Dr. Oboh declared.
He tasked the contractor handling the repair works from Eleme Junction to Onne Junction covering a length of 14.65km to intensify effort, explaining that “we want to alleviate the sufferings of our people using this road as quickly as possible”.
Responding, the Project Manager, Friday Okorobie assured that his company would work towards early completion of the job.
He attributed the delay experienced to rains which had hampered the delivery of materials to the site.
Some motorists plying the route described NDDC’s intervention on the road, which had almost become impassable as a big relief.
“It has been a hellish experience for those of us who have to put our vehicles through this road; so, you can imagine our joy on seeing that the NDDC has come to fix the road for us”. They said.
