Mrs. Seledi Felicia Thompson-Wakama, Director, Corporate Affairs Department of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, is an accomplished professional with over three decades of experience in leadership and managerial roles, crowned with remarkable achievements.

With a strong educational background from the University of Port Harcourt and Mandelson School of Business and Management in the United Kingdom, as well as a Leadership Certificate from Howard Business School, Thompson-Wakama possesses a wealth of expertise in corporate governance, personnel management, and leadership. 

She has held key positions at prestigious organizations such as the National Electoral Commission and the Drax Nigeria Limited, demonstrating her capability to navigate complex organisational structures and deliver impactful results.

In discharging her duties in those organisations, she demonstrated astuteness and strategic vision, qualities that obviously aided her operational prowess.

Thompson-Wakama started her journey in education at the Municipal Council School, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital in 1974, earning the First School Leaving Certificate in 1979. She moved on to the prestigious Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma, where she obtained the West African School Certificate in 1984.

The product of the Unity School, as the Federal Government Colleges were known in those days, proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt, where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.

The academic sojourn at the ivory tower continued at UNIPORT, where she bagged a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel in 2009. Seven years down the line, she returned to UNIPORT to add a Post Graduate Diploma to her academic laurels in 2017.

To add international flavour to her education and training, Thompson-Wakama was awarded an Executive Masters (Corporate Governance and Leadership) by the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK in 2022. This was followed by a highly sought after Leadership Certificate (Managing Yourself and Leading Others) from the Harvard Business School in 2023.

Thompson-Wakama started her working career in 1989 as an Enumeration Supervisor with the National Electoral Commission. She was elevated to the position of Personnel Officer at the Electoral Commission in 1990, a position she held for six years.

In 1998, she joined Drax Nigeria Limited as Assistant Personnel/ Manager, a position she held till 2004, when a new vista open for her at the NDDC. 

Since her employment by the NDDC in 2004, she has risen from the position of Manager to a Director in the Directorate of Planning, Research and Statistics in January 2023. She recently returned to the Corporate Affairs Department where she started her journey in NDDC.

She played significant roles in various capacities from Manager to Director, proving to be more than just an accomplished professional with a wealth of knowledge and a keen intellect. 

Thompson-Wakama had over the years traversed different directorates in NDDC moving from Corporate Affairs to Rivers State office of the Commission and back to Servicom at the headquarters, In 2026, she was again redeployed to the Directorate of Education, Health and Social Services; from there to Imo State office; then back to the Directorate of Youth, Sports and Women Affairs. In 2023, she moved to the Directorate of Planning, Research and Statistics before making a comeback to Corporate Affairs.

Thompson-Wakama, an active member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, is not just a seasoned professional and administrator; she is a harmonious blend of both, dedicated to exploring new territories, improving work environments, and making positive impacts in the society.
