Lyna Okara Esq. is presently Director, Commercial & Industrial Development in the Directorate of Commercial & Industrial Development in NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (NDDC) Headquarters, Port Harcourt. She started work with NDDC in 2004 as a Manager in the Directorate of Legal Services. She served for six years as Chairperson, ICPC’s Anti-Corruption Transparency Unit (ACTU) in NDDC: 2016 – 2022, where her commitment to best corporate practices established the relevance of ACTU in corporate governance of the Commission. She has been involved in strategic partnerships and played active roles in several ad hoc committees in the Commission. Before going to the public sector in 2004, Lyna Okara had worked as Managing Solicitor in the Law firm, KHALIL & ASSOCIATES, Port Harcourt from 1996-2004. In her commitment to environmental advocacy, she had collaborated with ANPEZ Centre For Environment and Development, Port Harcourt, in carrying out major research that covered the necessary review of State Environmental Law Reviews. She had worked with the world class organisation GARDEN CITY SUNRAY LIMITED, for four years in different roles. Lyna Okara is an alumnus of the prestigious US Department of State’s International Visitor’s Leadership Programme (IVLP) 2004 on the Theme: Resource engendered conflicts in the Niger Delta Region. She is passionate about sustainable development and growth. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC).
